The coast of Galicia is irregular with many long inlets called rias. The Atlantic coast of Andalucía is low and sandy. There are marshes near the coast. The coast of Canarias is high and rocky in the islands to the west, and much lower in the islands to the east. The coasts of Cataluña and Illes Balears have high, rocky areas and low, sandy areas, with small coves. The coasts of the Comunitat Valenciana and the Región de Murcia have wide beaches. The Mediterranean coast of Andalucía has beaches and cliffs. THE MEDITERRANEAN COAST The coast of Ceuta is low. The coast of Melilla is high and rocky.
