2 Fruits The fruit protects the seeds. There are two main types of fruits: fleshy fruits and dry fruits. Seeds The seed contains a very small plant inside, called an embryo. The seed also contains food to keep the embryo alive. Fleshy fruits are juicy and soft. They contain a lot of water. FLESHY FRUITS Dry fruits have little water inside. DRY FRUITS Thanks to the seed's food, the young plant, called a seedling, grows above ground.
